Following the play of national anthems of India and Japan, Mr. Taga welcomed and introduced Mr. Horii, who was on his first ever visit to India.
Mr. Horii expressed pleasure in visiting Kolkata and mentioned the strategic importance of Kolkata to promote further deepening and expanding of relations between Japan and India. He then raised a toast to the evening.
Chief Secretary to the Government of West Bengal, Shri Malay Kumar De, highlighted the various types of past and on-going Japanese assistance to the development of West Bengal, with thanks and hoping for the same in the future.
6 Japanese companies who are doing business in Eastern India displayed a panel each at the venue.
Traditional Japanese items including a Hina Doll King and Queen, an Uchikake Kimono and 2 Japanese dolls were exhibited.
Japanese rice was put on display and an assortment of sushis were served to the guests in addition to prawn and vegetable tempuras.
