32nd Japanese Language Speech Contest (Eastern India)

The 32nd Japanese Language Speech Contest (Eastern India) was organized by Consulate General of Japan in Kolkata and Indo-Japan Welfare and Cultural Association (IJWCA) on Saturday, 25 January 2020 at Jamini Roy Art Gallery, Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Kolkata.

 

Around 40 candidates participated in the contest from various Japanese language institutions. They were divided into ‘Junior’ and ‘Senior’ categories depending on whether they have received 500 and less or more than 500 hours of training in Japanese language respectively. Mr. Norio Shibuya, Cultural Secretary, Japan Club in Kolkata, Mr. Ken Nakamura, Deputy Consul General and Ms. Risa Tamura, Vice Consul of Consulate General of Japan in Kolkata were present as judges.

All the winners received gifts from Mr. Taga Masayuki, Consul-General of Japan in Kolkata, IJWCA and the 1st position holders of both categories received a special prize from Japan Club in Kolkata.
 
All the above mentioned winners are eligible to compete in the All India Japanese Language Speech Contest to be held in New Delhi on 21 March 2020, with the winners from Northern, Southern and Western India organized by the Monbusho Scholars Association of India (MOSAI).
