Japan Pavilion at 45th Kolkata International Book Fair

The Consulate General of Japan in Kolkata in association with The Japan Curry, set up the Japan Pavilion at the 45th Kolkata International Book Fair, during 28 February to 13 March 2022. Books on various faucets of Japanese culture were on display in addition to books about Japan by Indian authors, including Bengali translation of few Japanese novels. The pavilion also hosted Japan-related activities everyday for the visitors, who had the opportunity to get introduced to Japan and some of its traditional as well as modern aspects. The activities included origami sessions, happi coat trials, kendama game, painting competition, quiz, karaoke sessions, dolls exhibition, Japanese handwriting sessions, cosplay demonstration, aikido demonstration, band performance, calligraphy experience and Japanese language related fun games. A Doraemon mascot also added to the charm of the pavilion, which saw around 5000 visitors everyday on an average and more than 70000 in total for the period of 14 days.
