Grant Contract with Alternative for Rural Movement on 23 October 2017

Under the Government of Japan’s Grant Assistance for Grassroots Projects (GGP) scheme, on behalf of the Government of Japan, Consul General of Japan in Kolkata, Mr. Masayuki Taga, signed a Grant Contract with Mr. Rajendra Kumar Rana, Director of NGO, Alternative for Rural Movement (ARM), for the grant amount of US$ 85,992 on 23 October 2017 at the Consulate General of Japan in Kolkata.
The grant will be utilized by the NGO to implement a project titled “The Project for the Construction of a Vocational Training Centre for Skill Formation among the Distressed and Deserted Women in Different Trades for Self Employment and Employment Generation at ARM Complex in Parulia Village, Baliapal, Balasore, Odisha,” for constructing a two-story building and to purchase several kinds of training equipment to provide needy women in the region with more opportunities of vocational trainings at ARM Complex in Baliapal, Odisha.
Mr. Taga in his address mentioned that, “this scheme is directly addressing people’s needs at the grassroots level by supporting local NGOs. I believe that the project utilizing GGP will definitely help socially vulnerable people in needy areas. ”
And, Mr. Rana expressed his heartfelt and profound gratitude to the Government and the people of Japan for sanctioning the project. He said that, “this project will immensely benefit the distressed and downtrodden women by providing them with training on different vocations and will also help to sensitize the about their rights and entitlements.”
