Bengal Global Business Summit 2016, which was organized by the state government of West Bengal, was held in Kolkata from 8 th to 9 th January, 2016 in which JAPAN participated as partner country. Ambassador of Japan in India Mr. Kenji Hiramatsu, Consul General of Japan in Kolkata Mr. Kazumi Endo and around 40-member Japanese corporate delegation took part in the mega investment summit. Ambassador addressed the inaugural session. Mr. Junichi Okamoto, Director, Mitsubishi Chemicals Corporation, shared his experience of doing business in the state while Mr. Keiichi Higuchi, President, Kawasaki Rikuso Transportation Co., Ltd announced their investment plan in the state. Dignitaries from several foreign countries acknowledged the state as an attractive investment destination, appreciated state’s initiatives towards ‘Ease of Doing Business’ and noted West Bengal as a potential gateway to North-eastern India and Southeast Asia.
