Bihar School Visit

The Cultural Section of the Consulate General of Japan in Kolkata visited the following 3 schools and 1 university in Bihar so as to interact with the students and acquaint them with Japanese culture.

Notre Dame Academy

The Notre Dame Academy situated in Pataliputra Colony, Patna was visited on 4 July 2017. Ms. Manami Kato, Vice Consul, made a presentation to around 400 girl students of grade 8 and 9 on some basic facts about Japan including Japanese lifestyle and language. A documentary video on topics like Japanese ladies’ bicycle and paper cutting was shown. Thereafter, a fun quiz on Japan was conducted and souvenirs were gifted to whoever answered a question.   
 

 

Litera Valley School

The Litera Valley School situated in Bhagwat Nagar, Patna was visited on 4 July 2017. Ms. Manami Kato addressed around 140 students of grade 4 and 5 and made a presentation on some basic facts about Japan including Japanese lifestyle and language. The students intently watched the video on Elementary Japanese Schools that was shown. Thereafter, Ms. Kato demonstrated Origami, the Japanese art of paper folding, and showed the students the steps to make a samurai headwear.
 

 

Vidya Niketan Girls’ High School

The Vidya Niketan Girls’ High School in Bairiya, Patna was visited on 5 July 2017. Ms. Manami Kato made a presentation to around 60 girl students of grade 8, 9 and 10 on some basic facts about Japan including Japanese lifestyle and language. They were shown a video on Elementary Japanese Schools. Thereafter, a fun quiz on Japan was conducted and souvenirs were gifted to whoever answered a question.
 


 

Magadh Mahila College (Patna University)

Magadh Mahila College near Gandhi Maidan, Patna was visited on 5 July 2017. A video on Japanese lightweight cars, sight-seeing train and sushi academy was shown to around 120 students of various disciplines. This was followed by a presentation from Ms. Manami Kato about some basic facts on Japanese culture. The session was concluded by screening of the Japanese film, "Swing Girls".
