Consul General and Mrs. NAKAGAWA visited Santiniketan

Consul General of Japan in Kolkata, Mr. NAKAGAWA Koichi and Mrs. NAKAGAWA Yayoi visited Santiniketan on 24 and 25 May 2023.
On the first day of their visit, they met with Vice-Chancellor of Visva-Bharati, Prof. Bidyut Chakrabarty, where Consul General NAKAGAWA expressed his desire to continue supporting the university’s Japanese department in their future activities to further enhance the Japanese language education in Santiniketan. Thereafter, they attended a presentation about the study in Japan by Mr. SASAKI Kazunori, Senior Manager, University of Tokyo India office for the students of Visva-Bharati, and encouraged the participants to study in Japan
During the second day of their visit, Consul General NAKAGAWA attended the hand-over ceremony of the books on Japan to the Japanese department, that was received through Nippon Foundation’s Read Japan project. He also attended a lecture session organized in the memory of late Ms. Karabi Mukherjee, and delivered opening remarks that Visva-Bharati is a significant hub of Japan-India people to people exchange thanks to a variety of activities of Japanese Language Department.
