29th Cinema Nippon

Consulate General of Japan in Kolkata and Nihongo Kaiwa Kyookai Society (NKKS) in collaboration with Nandan, West Bengal Film Centre, I & CA Department, Government of West Bengal and The Japan Foundation, New Delhi, organized the 29th Cinema Nippon where a selection of six Japanese films with English subtitles were screened, including two movies directed by the legendary filmmaker, Akira Kurosawa.
Consul General of Japan in Kolkata, Mr. Masayuki Taga, welcomed the audience before screening of the first movie and stated that movies are one of the important mediums to understand a culture and society and that Japanese movies definitely reflects various sentiments, thoughts and the way of life of the Japanese people.
President of NKKS, Mr. Jayanta Kumar Saha, thanked the Consulate General of Japan in Kolkata and Nandan, West Bengal Film Centre for providing the necessary support in organizing the film festival, and expressed hope to keep organizing future editions of the same.
Cinema and anime lovers of Kolkata turned up in huge numbers to see the films over the 3 day long film festival.
