2021/9/11
On 11 September 2021, Prof. Abhijit Mukherjee (Teacher-in-charge, Japanese language course, Jadavpur University), Mr. Sekhar Banerjee (Author and former Secretary, Paschimbanga Bangla Akademi) and Mr. Shuvadeep Barua (Author and Senior Engineer, BSNL), came together live on Facebook page of Consulate General of Japan in Kolkata, and shared their thoughts on and experiences with Japanese literature. Prof. Mukherjee explained how readers all over the world are responding to the messages dispensed through Japanese literature and that Bengali readers are particularly privileged in appreciating Japanese literature as they have already been introduced to the key ideas through Tagore's songs. Mr. Banerjee highlighted several aspects of Japanese literature through a reader’s perspective while Mr. Barua drew parallelism between contemporary Bengali and Japanese authors.
