Reopening ceremony of the Japan Gallery in Tagore House and the Kyogen performance by Shigeyama Sengoro Family

On February 19, 2024, Consul General Nakagawa inaugurated the reopening ceremony of the Japan Gallery in Tagore House.
 
Under the Government of Japan’s Grant Assistance for Cultural Grassroots Projects Scheme and using USD 31,891 granted by the Government of Japan, Rabindra Bharati University has refurbished the Japan Gallery aiming to highlight Rabindranath Tagore’s relation with Japan and cultural and intellectual exchanges between Japan and India which were initiated at Tagore House and Tagore’s Japan visits.
 
The refurbishment work was suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the lockdown, but it was finally completed in January this year.
 
Mr. Mukherjee, Vice Chancellor of Rabindra Bharati University and Dr. Mitra, Director of Tagore House attended the reopening ceremony together with the teachers and students of the university. To celebrate the ceremony, Sengoro Shigeyama family performed Kyogen for celebration. Please see the link below for the Kyogen peformance.
