On 5 February 2020, Consul-General of Japan, Mr. Taga Masayuki hosted the Conferment Ceremony for Mrs. Nigam Kazuko who is among the 2019 Autumn Imperial Decorations recipients. She received the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Rays in recognition of her contribution to promoting friendship, goodwill and mutual understanding between Japan and India through dispersing Japanese culture and Japanese language to Indian people.

In his speech, Mr. Taga, Consul-General of Japan in Kolkata, expressed his heartfelt appreciation to the continuous and dedicated effort made by Mrs. Nigam Kazuko in promoting friendship, goodwill and mutual understanding between Japan and India by disbursing knowledge about Japanese language and culture, especially the Japanese way of flower arrangement, Ikebana.
Mrs. Nigam said that in the year of change of the Japanese era, from Heisei to Reiwa, she is greatly honored to receive this extraordinary award. She summarized her activities in India so far and expressed her gratitude to Government of Japan, Consulate General of Japan in Kolkata, Wafukai, NKKS, her family and the people of India for their continuous support.
