Inauguration of The Project for Eye Testing and Surgery Instruments for Restoring Vision of Needless Blind Poor Patients in Gaya and Adjoining Districts in Bihar

On October 17 (Monday), 2022, Mr. YAMASAKI Matsutaro, Deputy Consul General of Japan in Kolkata, along with the representatives of the recipient organization, Nav Bharat Jagriti Kendra (NBJK) – Mr. Satish Girija, Secretary of NBJK, Dr. Sagwan Kumar, Additional Chief Medical Officer, Health Department of the Government of Bihar, inaugurated “The Project for Eye Testing and Surgery Instruments for Restoring Vision of Needless Blind Poor Patients in Gaya and Adjoining Districts in Bihar”.  
  

Under the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Project (GGP) Scheme, NBJK utilized the grant amount of US$ 85,214 to procure 8 advanced eye equipment. It is expected that, in coming years with this support of GGP, Gaya and neighboring districts will be free from avoidable blindness (Cataract, Glaucoma and Refraction error) by  immediate treatment to the poor patients of the village who cannot afford and access quality eye care services on free at present.
 
Mr. YAMASAKI, Deputy Consul General of the Consulate General of Japan in Kolkata expressed his deep appreciation and encouragement to NBJK, stating about the works of the Organization in improving the eyesight of poor patients of Bihar.
 
Mr. Girija, Secretary of NBJK, expressed gratitude to the People and the Government of Japan and mentioned that how the modern and highly advanced medical equipment supported by GGP will support them to increase their service to provide a smooth treatment for all types of ophthalmological disorders to the poor people of Gaya, Bihar at free of cost.
