NGO Public Meeting on August 11, 2017

Consulate General of Japan in Kolkata organized NGO Public Meeting 2017 on 11 August, 2017 in Tollygunge Club. For this occasion, 60 participants from 30 Non-Government/Profit Organizations gathered from across eastern 4 states; Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and West Bengal and discussed our current developmental assistance scheme, Grant Assistance for Grassroots Projects (GGP) scheme. Mr. Masayuki Taga, Consul General of Japan in Kolkata graced the occasion and encouraged participants carrying out their missions for the welfare and the development of people in their project areas.
The meeting was conducted through active exchange of a lot of helpful feedbacks and suggestions of GGP scheme from participants. It also created the new network beyond their working sphere among participants from NGOs by sharing their experiences and success stories.
GGP Scheme was established to assist local NGOs in developing countries in responding to various developmental needs in a prompt and complete manner, even though in a comparatively small scale. As a donor, Consulate General of Japan in Kolkata has supported more than US$ 3 million to a numbers of NGOs in eastern 4 states; Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and West Bengal for more than last 2 decades to fight against various challenges at grassroots level.
