21st Nihongo Quiz Contest

In collaboration with the Consulate General of Japan in Kolkata, the Nihongo Kaiwa Kyookai Society (NKKS) organized the 21st Nihongo Quiz Contest on 1 September 2018 at Shivananda Hall, Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture, Golpark. 57 students of Japanese language from eastern India participated in the contest. The participants were divided into the following two categories:
Junior- less than 300 hours of training received in Japanese language
Senior- more than or equal to 300 hours of training received in Japanese language
Ruma Chatterjee Sensei and Poonam Nand De Sensei were the quiz masters for the Junior and Senior category respectively. The quiz contest tested the knowledge of each participant in various dimensions of Japanese language like kanji (Chinese characters), vocabulary, katakana, grammar in addition to general awareness about Japan as well. The participants enthusiastically participated and put in their best effort over two rounds of each category to find a place among the top three of the same.
Consul General of Japan in Kolkata, Mr. Masayuki Taga, graced the occasion and addressed the audience in Japanese expressing his pleasure on seeing the large number of participants and hoped that all of them would get an opportunity to visit Japan in the future. He also handed over the prizes and trophies to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd position holders of both the categories in addition to goodies and certificates to all other participants.
