Grant Contract with National Youth Service Action and Social Development Research Institute (NYSASDRI)

Under the Government of Japan’s Grant Assistance for Grassroots Projects (GGP) Scheme, on behalf of the Government of Japan, Consul General of Japan in Kolkata, Mr. Taga Masayuki, signed a Grant Contract with the Director of the recipient organisation, National Youth Service Action and Social Development Research Institute (NYSASDRI), Mr. Sarangadhar Samal for the grant amount US$ 92,462 on 10 February, 2020 at the Official Residence of the Consul General of Japan in Kolkata.

The grant will be utilized by the Organisation to implement a project titled “The Project for Universal Eye Health for Under Privileged Children in Odisha, where they will be for equipping National Youth Service Action and Social Development Research Institute (NYSASDRI), with advanced eye equipment and one medical camp bus to provide better eye treatment to poor and needy people of Odisha
In his speech, Mr. Taga stated that, “I am aware about the eye problems in remote area. We already knew NYSASDRI is doing very well in their field. We are really hopeful that the support from GGP Scheme will really help them to work more successfully in the context of eye problems and they will utilize the support properly to make this scheme more effective to the children of the remote area of Odisha.”
Mr. Sarangadhar Samal, (the Director of NYSASDRI) expressed his sincere appreciation and mentioned that “this project will cover in 5 backward and tribal dominated districts of Odisha through which we will cover 0.6 million children in 5 years period by 70 field screening camps of each year. 30,000 children will get comprehensive eye care in screening camps of Government primary schools and Anganwadi centres between age group 0 – 14 years in each year and 1.5 lakhs of children in 5 years period means we can save the eye sight from detoriation of vision. 6000 children in 5 years period will be benefited means 1200 children will get free spectacles in each year. Most importantly this project will restore vision through surgery. In 5 years period we have target to achieve 1500 surgeries that means 1500 blind children will not only get sight but get new life. Our project will offer at least 50 numbers of low vision devices in each year means in 5 years 250 numbers of low vision devices will be supplied to make their life easy of 250 low vision children.”
