School Visit in Odisha

The Cultural Section of the Consulate General of Japan in Kolkata visited the following 2 schools and 1 university in Odisha so as to interact with the students and acquaint them with Japanese culture.
Chandra Sekhar Academy
The Chandra Sekhar Academy situated in Balighai, Puri was visited on 30 January 2017. Ms. Manami Kato, Vice Consul from the Consulate General of Japan in Kolkata, made a presentation to around 60 students of grade 8 and 9 on some basic facts about Japan including Japanese lifestyle and language. A documentary video with glimpses of Japan’s cultural heritage such as Mount Fuji and Kamakura was shown. Thereafter, a fun quiz on Japan was conducted and Japanese souvenirs were gifted to whoever answered a question.

KiiT International School
The KiiT International School situated in KIIT University Campus, Bhubaneswar was visited on 31 January 2017. Ms. Manami Kato, Vice Consul from the Consulate General of Japan in Kolkata, made a presentation to around 200 students of grade 8 and 9 on some basic facts about Japan including Japanese lifestyle and language. The students intently watched the video that was shown which covered topics like Origami and Japanese Robots among other things. Thereafter, a fun quiz on Japan was conducted and Japanese souvenirs were gifted to whoever answered a question.

Utkal University
Utkal University in Vani Vihar, Bhubaneswar was also visited on 31 January 2017. Ms. Manami Kato, Vice Consul from the Consulate General of Japan in Kolkata, made a presentation to around 80 students of various discipline on some basic facts about Japan including Japanese lifestyle and language. Thereafter, the following two movies were screened at Parija Library in Utkal University for the students as well as the teachers.
