Screening Japan - documentaries and dramas by NHK World-Japan

Consulate General of Japan in Kolkata organized a 6 day long screening of 12 documentaries and 2 dramas from Japan in collaboration with Nandan, West Bengal Film Centre, I & CA Department, Government of West Bengal and NHK World-Japan.

The screenings were held at Rabindra Okakura Bhavan and at Nandan III.

From the screenings, people of Kolkata got to know about how Japan recovered after World War II and became an emblem of peace and friendship. Also, it was very touching to see how people of Japan suffered during the Great East Japan Earthquake. The film lovers also got a glimpse of the famous Hokusai paintings together with the memoire of the famous artist Katsushika Hokusai.

The people also enjoyed the drama which depicts the situation faced by a British national who came to settle in Japan with his Japanese wife.

The documentaries and dramas were highly appreciated by the people of Kolkata.

The Phone of the Wind: Whispers to Lost Families 5 years after the tsunami of March 2011, people are still struggling with their losses.
