Documentary Screening: Tagore Songs

On 19 November 2022, the Consulate General of Japan in Kolkata in collaboration with Paschimbanga Bangla Akademi, Information & Cultural Affairs Department, Government of West Bengal and the Japan Club, Kolkata organized a screening of‘Tagore Songs,’a documentary exploring the appeal of “Tagore songs” about nature and devotion in Bengal from poet Rabindranath Tagore, directed by Ms. SASAKI Mika. Consul General of Japan in Kolkata attended the screening and made a speech, in addition to director Ms. SASAKI, who learned about Bengali culture while studying at Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, attended the event and explained the documentary to the audience. In his speech, Consul General NAKAGAWA expressed pleasure on seeing such young Japanese people realize the significance of Tagore in Indian and as well as Japanese society.
