Inauguration: The Project for Equipping Leprosy Mission Purulia to Provide Better Medical Care to Poor and Needy Community

Medical Equipment Handing Over Ceremony was conducted in The Leprosy Mission Trust India Purulia Leprosy Home & Hospital (TLMTI Purulia Home & Hospital) by Ms. Manami Kato, Vice Consul of the Consulate-General of Japan in Kolkata, with Dr. Ujjwal Kumar Hembrom, Superintendent of TLMTI Purulia Home & Hospital, Dr. Famkima Darlong, Head of Health Programme of TLMTI New Delhi and Dr. Nikhil Ranjan Ray, Senior Officer of W.B.P.H on March 27, 2019.

Under the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Project (GGP), TLMTI  Purulia Home & Hospital, utilized the grant amount of  US$ 66,309 for the procurement of 9 kinds of advanced medical equipment; 1 A/B Scanner, 1 Auto-refractometer/Keratometer, 1 Automated Biochemical Analyzer, 1 Laparoscopy, 1 Electrolyte Analyzer, 1 OT Light, 1 Defibrillator , 1 Indirect Ophthalmoscope and 1 Centrifuge Machine.
 
According to TLMTI Purulia Leprosy Home & Hospital, advanced medical equipment supported by GGP Scheme will be utilized for the better treatment of more than 30,000 beneficiaries annually. It is going to contribute to the better health and livelihood of the people.
 
Ms. Kato, Vice Consul, expressed her deep appreciation to TLMTI Purulia Leprosy Home & Hospital mentioning that “the hospital has been working for the most valuable people in the country for the last 130 years. I strongly believe that the equipment supported by GGP scheme will benefit many patients visiting the hospital and will make a remarkable difference in the region.”
 
Dr. Darlong, Head of Health Programme of TLMTI New Delhi, expressed gratitude to the People and the Government of Japan and mentioned that “now we are the first hospital in Purulia to have an advanced medical facility of Laparoscopy which can allow patients to recover as soon as possible after the operation. We keep contributing our effort to treat patients for their better health in this region with the support of our friends from Japan.”
