Inauguration of Therapy Centre on 15 December 2015

Mr. Kazumi Endo, Consul General of Japan in Kolkata, inaugurated a project for “Establishment of Permanent Therapy Centre for Disabled People” that was implemented with the support from the People and the Government of Japan under the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Projects (GGP) Scheme on December 15, 2015 at Gop in Puri District of Odisha.
Mr. Kazumi Endo, Consul General of Japan in Kolkata, informed the audience that Prime Minister Abe visited India recently and offered a number of assistance programs for further economic and social development of India. This inaugural ceremony shows that the Government and people of Japan care about the wellbeing of the people living in the countryside of the vast land mass of India.
Mr.Samir Ranjan Das, MLA, Nimapara, said that this center will bring hope for the disabled for an independent livelihood in the future and thanked the Government of Japan for supporting Vikash.
Mr.Rabi Hussain Gandhi, Chairman, Vikash, said that the center will have facilities for all the therapy services and those requiring therapy services may avail them. He conveyed thanks to the Government of Japan for supporting Vikash in establishing the therapy center.
On behalf of the Government of Japan, the then Consul General of Japan in Kolkata had signed a Grant Contract with Mr. Bibekananda Mishra of an NGO, Vikash, for an amount of US Dollar 87,255 on March 11, 2011.Since then, the NGO had utilized the grant and the interest accrued on it for the construction of a one storied building and procurement of 17 equipment in order to set up a Therapy Centre at Gop in Puri District of Odisha. According to Vikash, annually 250 patients from the local community will receive therapy and treatment.
