Japan Photo Contest

Entry Guidelines
  1. Criteria of submission: This contest is open to citizens of India. Only amateur (non-professional) photographers can participate.
  2. Theme: The photo(s) must be the original works of the participant. The photos should be related to Japan in any manner, taken either in Japan or, in India.
  3. Photograph(s) must be accompanied by proper captions.
  4. Dealine of submission of entries extended till 16 August 2019.
  5. Minimum 1 (one) photograph; Maximum up to 3 (three) photographs allowed.
  6. Size of picture: Up to 5 MB of image data per photo. Please send in separate emails if size of each picture is 5 MB or total size of 3 pictures adds up to more than 5 MB.
  7. Photos can be in colour as well as in black & white (either new or old). Cropping and post-capture editing (Brightness, Contrast, Sharpness, Colour Adjustments only) are allowed.  However, the selection committee has the sole right to reject any entry suspected of having artificially incorporated elements.
  8. Obscene, irrelevant or inappropriate pictures will be rejected immediately.
  9. Prescribed Entry Form must be duly filled in and submitted with photos.
  10. All participants must sign Participant’s Declaration.
  11. Submission of photos and entry form: Send your photos and scanned entry form to japanconsulate.culture@cc.mofa.go.jp with the subject line of email as “Photo Contest”. The file should be renamed as: name of contestant_image1, name of contestant_image2, name of contestant_image3.
  12. Photos once submitted will not be returned under any circumstances.
  13. All prescribed guidelines must be complied with. Any violation will result in disqualification.

Selection method and Prizes for chosen entries
  1. The photos received for the contest will be evaluated by a judging committee, based on expressiveness (how the photographer’s message is conveyed) and on originality (how creative the photographer’s idea / point of view is).
  2. The Names of the Winners will be announced in September 2019.
  3. The 10 best photos will be displayed in the Japan Utsav, in November.
  4. Among the 10 winners, top three will be awarded prizes.
