On June 17, Consul-General Ishikawa attended the inauguration ceremony of the special exhibition ‘Ma Lipi — Virtues of Bharat in Brāhmī Calligraphy’ at the Indian Museum, Kolkata.
The exhibition features Brāhmī, the oldest script in South Asia, along with rare relics from the Museum's collection. It also displays breathtaking calligraphic art, inspired by Japanese calligraphy (Shodō), by Shri Nilanjan Bandyopadhyay, the curator of the exhibition. The exhibition offers visitors an opportunity to appreciate the long history of relations between Japan and India, spanning from ancient times to the present day.
