Japan-India Film Festival

Consulate General of Japan in Kolkata and Bidhannagar Film Society, in association with Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre, Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India and with the support of Federation of Film Societies of India, organized a Japan-India Film Festival. The festival was organized at Aikatan (EZCC), IB Block, Salt Lake, Kolkata on 24, 25 and 26 June 2022. 3 Japanese films were screened: Kamome Diner, Shiori and Neko Ninja in addition to 3 Indian films: Rang Beranger Kori, In the Land of Poison Woman and Stand Up.
 
On 24 June 2022, the festival was inaugurated in the presence of Mr. NAKAGAWA Koichi, Consul-General of Japan in Kolkata, Mr. Abhijit Chatterjee, Administrative Officer, Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre, Mr. Ranjan Ghosh, Filmmaker and Dr. Shubhankar Home, Working President, Bidhannagar Film Society.
 
Consul-General NAKAGAWA said that he is happy to see such a festival this year that marks the 70th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between Japan and India and also introduced the inaugural Japanese film, Kamome Diner.
 
Mr. Chatterjee expressed happiness that after more than 2 years, the venue is being used for the first time and hoped that Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre can host more Japan-related events.
 
Mr. Ghosh stated that he is pleased to screen his film, Rang Beranger Kori, alongside films of Japan, a country which is also known for its love for cinema, just like India.
 
Mr. Home thanked Consulate General of Japan in Kolkata and Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre for the cooperation received in organizing this festival that provides a unique opportunity for the film lovers to enjoy top quality movies.
